Your turn!
Okay - so this post is a little different. I'm kind of throwing a thought out there to see what my readers think. Rather than me telling you my thoughts...it's your turn to tell me yours!
As you may be able to tell from my blog I LOVE to be creative...I mean...I really love it! I was recently on a very fun family vacation with Mark, Anderson, my mom, dad, and sister and it was so fun but I remember saying...I miss sewing and being creative!
So here is my quest: Do I try to summon up some self-confidence and fully put myself into my love of being creative or do I simply keep it as a hobby? Here is what the two different options look like:
If I threw myself into this:
I may try to start a side business - there is a store in a nearby, very popular, shopping center (Eastwood Towne Center) that said they would look at my items for possible sale. I would also make people gifts, mostly baby items, and see what happens from there. My reservations would be that people wouldn't like the things I've created...see...little lack of self-confidence here people! I guess I need to know, would you buy the things you've seen that I have made? It's really okay for you to say, "No, I would not" or "Yes, I would." I want your opinion - no hard feelings here!
If I keep it as a hobby:
I would continue to make lots of things for Anderson and... create for my own enjoyment. I can hear Anderson saying, "Mom, can't I just buy something from the store?" Then I would probably go under my covers and cry! Just kidding...I think!
Anyway...if you have a few spare seconds feel free to give me your thoughts about which direction you think I should go: Really put effort into making something out of my creativity or keep it as a hobby. Don't worry...remember - there will be no hard feelings either way. I am obviously weighing the options and see pluses and minuses both ways!
If you would like to see just a few of the items I've made you can find a few items in the April post "creativity." I also made the bib and birthday banner (made out of Marks old shirts and scrap fabric) found at the top of this post!
Hope you are all enjoying your summer! I'll write more later this week!

First thing is that your items are darling. Yes, I would buy them because I love home-made stuff and knowing that someone's love and care went it to them. They would have to be somewhat reasonably priced, of course. With this being such a big decision, I would of course pray, pray, pray. If you feel at peace about sending them into the stores, then go for it. I would just talk to the store owner, if you could keep it small so you don't overwhelm yourself.
ReplyDeleteGreat thoughts from Dori. I say go for it!
ReplyDeleteI love your creativity, and I would purchase your items in a heartbeat (once I have a kid or course). If you could create an apron, a bag, or something else for the women/moms into the mix I would buy your items TODAY! You are wonderful, your skills are amazing, and I am behind you 1000%. I believe in Jen!
ReplyDeleteAhhh...thanks for your thoughts girls!
