Peace - will you accept it?

This month I began an exciting journey through a Beth Moore bible study called Breaking Free. I'm participating in this study with 13 awesome woman from church. So far the study has been amazing and it's only the second week.
Tonight as I was doing my "homework" (as my friend Kristie says, this bible study is "not for wimps!"...there is homework!) I was reading about peace like a river. The study was talking about how if we have accepted God as our Savior He always extends His peace to us - we just have to accept it. The key to accepting that peace is spending time on our knees, (or sprawled on your bed, laying on your couch, crying and driving in your car) in prayer! I name all of those position because depending on the circumstance you may find me doing any of them and crying out to God for HELP!
Over the past year I have learned to rely on God for His peace but I have never realized that His Peace is always available, we just have to accept it. I always thought God would bring peace if we prayed hard enough, had deep enough Faith, spent enough quiet time with God. While I believe all of these are essential in deepening a walk with God if He calls us His own child then He is extending peace to us.
In the days we live in I think that is a dynamic concept to have on the forefront of our minds! As my spiritual walk deepens I will not forget to accept the Peace of the Lord. We all know that I need it!
"Oh, that you had listened to my commands (pray and accept Peace)! Then you would have had peace flowing like a gentle river and righteousness rolling over you like waves in the sea." Isaiah 48:18 N.L.T Parenthesis my addition
My prayer for you and me is that we would not look back on our circumstances and have to read this verse in the past tense as it is written. My prayer is that we WILL listen to God's commands and we WILL have peace flowing like a gentle river.
