Relationship

Recently I've been reading the book, "Get out of that Pit" by Beth Moore. This morning as I was having my quiet time (I don't always pull myself out of bed to do this but this morning I did!) I was reading a chapter on God's deliverance. I have really been on a journey to accept God's love and RECEIVE His love.

In my Sunday School class this past Sunday we were talking about God the Almighty Father and what "Father" in that context meant to us. I've been blessed to have an awesome relationship with my Earthly Father but sometimes still find myself viewing my Heavenly Father as a judge. I sat in my chair and thought, "How can I have such an awesome relationship with Mark, Anderson, my mom, dad, and sister and yet sometimes sense that God is not even there?" I asked the Lord to teach me to develop an intimate relationship with Him. I'm excited to see where the Lord leads me!

As I was telling Mark about this he brought up the point that there are times that I do feel distant from the people I listed above and we will go through seasons where we doo not always "sense" a closeness to the Lord. Even if we don't "sense" Him the Lord is still right by our side! Being married to a pastor means I have a live in counselor! That did give me some food for thought...it can be healthy to not always cling to those you love so that your love and trust in that person can grow. I believe that our Earthly relationships should mirror our Heavenly relationships and vice-versa.

I'll leave with you a couple of quotes from the chapter that really spoke to my heart today.

"God is driven by relationship...His part is to lift you out (of the pit). Your part is to hold on for dear life."

"The good news is we may have to wait for deliverance while the vehicle of time jolts and lurches, but we never have to wait on God Himself. Never have to wait to enjoy His Presence or be reassured of His love. If we're willing to take God at His Word, we can have any one of those relational delights instantly. The only wait is on seeing His work manifest in the physical realm, seeing our petition come to fruition."
