But I want...
But I want more money, I want a better job, I want time alone, I want, I want, I want. How much time do you spend wishing, hoping, and praying for what you want?
I attend a ladies bible study on Wednesday evenings at my church. A few weeks ago we discussed how the Lord may not give us what we want but He will give us what we need. This is an area I thought I had completely given to the Lord until recently. I've had feelings of frustration stirring up within me of wanting more resources and more time. While I was throwing my 12 year old tantrum inside my mind I ultimately knew better. I knew God would provide the resources our family needs and I knew I was spending my time in a way that honored God.
Hearing the statement, "God may not give us what He wants but He aways gives us what we need" really hit home. One morning as I was thinking about that statement I sensed the Lord asking, "Would you still love me and follow me if you had less resources than you currently do and more demands on your time?" I knew in my heart the answer was, "yes." God has changed me and drawn me so much closer to Him that I could never turn my back on Him no matter the circumstance. In that moment my heart ached that I had been so stubborn and had failed at completely trusting God to take care of us.
This was about two weeks. Can I tell you that from the moment where I told God I would completely trust Him we have received blessing upon blessing both with our resources and our time. It's amazing to see the power in completely relying on God. We begin to view circumstances and situations that may have been a struggle as blessings. When we are living each day with faith that God will provide for us our minds are not fixed on our fleshly desires but holy desires that please the Lord.
While it may not always seem "convenient" I am thankful that God simply gives us what we need and not just the things we want. He created us and He is capable to provide for all of our needs. Remember, there is power in trusting God and having complete faith in Him. It's not about us and our little desires it's about living a holy life that is pleasing to God.

"Do we love Him enough to stay with Him when we suffer?"
"God doesn't work just for our benefit but to do His work through us."
