Balance Act?

Well...let's just say that this week I blew the whole balance thing. I've been working so hard to balance life in general..."family" time..."me" time..."church" time..."volunteer" time...you get the picture. I know anyone reading this is saying..."Hello...we all struggle with balance." I realize everyone struggles with this but since not working full time it has been worse! I'm such a driven person that I always feel the need to "do" and never allow myself to "stop!" I feel that since I'm not working I have to somehow "earn my keep" but I'm slowing learning that...Hello...I do work! I think I'm coming to the realization that I need to find what my focus is and then evaluate what comes next.  My wonderful new friend encouraged me to pray that God would help me to prioritize! That was great advice I took to heart!

I believe that God does not want us to all run around so stressed out and exhausted trying to "serve" Him all the time. I'm learning that sometimes serving God can be sitting in my prayer chair (just a chair in my family room I pray in...not a specially built chair...although that's not a bad idea!) and praying for the situation or person rather than "doing"something for them. How often do we make ourselves crazy by "doing" when we should really stop and be praying!

So...my challenge to myself and my readers is this...

Evaluate each day...
1. Are you "doing" just to be busy?
2. Do you have your hands in a situation that would be best if you just took your hands off and prayed about it? If so, bow out of the appointment or situation and spend that time in prayer instead.
3. Pray that God would help you to prioritize (Thanks for the insight Erika)!
