Twitter, Facebook, Skype, Gmail, MySpace, Have we had enough??

Okay okay - I know that title could sound a bit pessimistic but sometimes I wonder if we really have had enough! Lately I've been thinking about how much background noise is coming at us as well as technological distractions. Every now and then I'll browse through USA Weekend and this past weekend was one of those times. An article about Mom's and cars intrigued me. The article was talking about how mom's know what cars are best for their families. Along with mom "opinions" new cars were also being debuted for Spring. One of the cars that was featured was a car that allows you to update your Twitter and Facebook account...WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING! You just speak the words and your account is updated! In my humble opinion I think that is taking technology a bit far. Besides, my status would be, "Anderson, we're almost there." "Anderson, please STOP crying." Ha! No one would even want to read it!

Since I've read this article I've really been trying to focus this week on having times of silence. When I've done the dishes I've had quiet music or no music playing and have not had the T.V. on. I've tried to only check Facebook a couple of times of day rather than...all the time! You know what I mean...you probably do the same thing!

So...join me in trying to find some moments where you can turn your iPod off or wait to check Facebook and take some quiet time to just breath and enjoy life. God gave us a lot...enjoy it!

  1. I've had enough. The amount of technology that gets in the way of personal bonding scares me. Our culture is consumed by being more efficient. Technology is in so many places it doesn't belong that people are disconnecting from each other.

As for fancy cars...all I need is a set of wheels with a good frame, engine & tires. I cannot wait to grab a map, a picnic basket, a few friends & just drive into the country with the windows down and nothing but the radio on. Amazing!
