God Is Present
The Lord is so good. Words can not express the amount of strength that has flowed through me because of Him. When we rely on God the beauty of His grace and strength is evident in our lives.
I have been reading a book entitled Renovation Of The Heart In Daily Practice by Jan Johnson. I am currently reading about dieing to ourselves and living abundantly in God. This concept is not one that is preached in our everyday society. We often hear, "look good at work, eat less so you are skinny and beautiful, parent perfectly so your child never throws a fit in public, be all things to all people." All of these messages are communicated with the power of "YOU." If we try to do things in our own power we will fail. I have failed at trying to do things in my own power. But stop and take a look at what the potential is if we do all of things in Gods power.
What if we went to work each day saying, "God, use me the way you intend."
When you are hungry saying, "God help me to eat only what my body needs. I need you to instill your power and self control within me."
When you parent saying, "God give me wisdom as I parent my children. Give me insight to communicate what their personality needs. Help me to demonstrate your love to my children."
When you are asked to commit to another thing on your calendar stopping to pray, "Lord, is this something you want me to commit my time to?"
You see, when we live in our own power we will crumble. It may not be instant but we will and it will begin in the depths of your soul seeping over into your heart, mind, and your family. We CAN NOT live on our power alone we MUST allow the mighty power of God to be a part of every fiber of our being. He is good and craves for you to feast at His table and rely upon Him.
The author Jan Johnson wrote a paraphrase of Psalm 23:1-3 with the challenge to truly believe the power that comes when we die to ourselves and rely upon God. Are you living in your own power today or Gods power?

"Maybe the Lord really is my shepherd today. Perhaps I really do have everything I need, even when it comes to ___________. The Lord will provide me green pastures, even though I may not recognize them at first. I may think that what I need is missing, but it will be there. I'll figure that out faster if I rest (lie down) in God. The still waters are there for me to drink from any minute I need them. In certain events today, such as ______. I may need them frequently.
God is restoring my broken soul today. It is healthier than ever. When I become confused today, God will guide me in the right path. Again, I may not recognize it until later, but I can trust God's name, God's presence, and God's power in my life today."
