Bless His Name

Since January of 2014 I have been reading different books of the bible but have focused my study in the Psalms. I didn't realize I was focusing there at first but I have been continually drawn to reflect and dig into the meaning of some of the Psalms.

As I have been studying here, I keep coming back to the message to bless the name of the Lord. To lift up praises with my prayers, thoughts, words and actions.

Psalm 99 says," You created order and established what is right...lift up the Eternal our God in your heart; bow down to the earth where He rests His feet. He is holy, perfect and exalted in His power."
 -Vs. 4 and 5

"Lift up the Eternal our God in your hearts, and celebrate His goodness at His holy mountain, for the Eternal our God is holy, perfect and exalted in His power." -Psalm 99:9

To me this is a call to trust the Lord for He is "perfect and exalted." How many times do you awake in the morning with a rushed mindset of the million things we have to complete in a day? How many times do we awake with a spirit of dread for what a day will behold? How many times do we awake with a spirit of enthusiasm but God does not fit into that enthusiasm because we have our day planned the way we like? No matter the circumstance or emotion of our day the Lord cries for us to make room for Him in our thoughts. He cries for Psalm 63 to be our heart and mindset:
"Often at night I lie in bed and remember You, meditating on Your greatness till morning smiles through my window. You have been my constant helper; therefore, I sing for joy under the protection of Your wings."

As I have been reflecting, wrestling and growing during these summer months I am sensing God calling out to me. Asking me to awake every morning and commit my day to him before my feet hit the floor. To concentrate on Him through out my day and invite His presence everywhere I am. I don't know why but I have struggled deeply with our busy schedule this summer. I've been longing for days where my kids run through the sprinkler and I read a book. Those days have been few and far between and I've been upset about it! (Ask my husband if you know him!) The fact of the matter is things are not slowing down in this season.
Therefore, my words can either bless the Lord or begrudge Him.

God is calling me to rest in Him. To bless Him. To invite His presence into everything I'm doing.

I believe that when we live a life willing to invite the presence of the Lord into every moment, we bless the Lord.
When we take a moment to stop and pray rather than yelling out of anger at our children, we bless the Lord.
When we commit our day to God each morning rather than rushing to our e-mail or Facebook, we bless the Lord!
I believe that when we cry out the words of these Psalms. When we desire the Lord to work in us, we bless His name!
When we trust God enough to break our Hearts for what breaks His heart, we bless Him.

"What sacrifice I can offer You is my broken spirit ..." -Psalm 51:17
