who you are
This past week I was at church helping to prepare our church sanctuary for Easter Sunday.
As I was placing the crown of thorns on the cross I found myself literally hurting from the sharpness of the thorns. Standing by the cross and feeling those sharp thorns against my skin instantly brought to mind all that Jesus went through. I was lightly touching those thorns and it was painful. Jesus had those thorns pushed down upon his precious head. The reality of that pain broke my heart at all Jesus did for us.
Jesus died for us exemplifying a love beyond all reason.
I was recently listening to a song by JJ Heller and the lyrics talk about not understanding what Jesus is doing but then says "I know who you are." We can hold firm in the hope of Jesus - that even when things around us seem out of control we know who our Father is. We can hold firm in the knowledge that He died to allow us a life filled with peace, joy, and security in Him. I'm thankful today that I not only celebrate my risen Savior on Easter but every day because I know who He is.
