Love Is A Beautiful Thing

Hi Everyone! I'm finally back to my weekly Wednesday blogging! What a month it has been around here. Geesh!

Today I want to just throw some thoughts I've been having your way just because! No specific reason - I guess just as a reminder to myself and to others.

Mark and I have recently come through a time that was a little challenging for us. I may share more about in the weeks or months to come. As we've walked through this hard time together I was reminded that even though things are hard God does not want me (us) to be selfish in my marriage (or in a dating relationship, friendship, etc.) When Mark and I were first married I really wanted him to serve me and put my needs ahead of his. Nice, huh? Wish we could always live that way! As time went on I realized that I was not being fair and that he had needs that I was neglecting. One night in the past couple of weeks I was laying in bed mad at him because he wasn't caring for me the way I thought he should. After some time of "quietness" (really not talking) I realized that Mark was also hurting and had come through a very hectic and time consuming work week. I then remembered how God had taught (is teaching) me to put others first. I woke Mark up to apoligize to him. After I had calmed down I was able to give a couple examples of how Mark could help me deal with the situation and I had a much more open mind to what he was feeling.

I share this fairly personal situation with my readers to bring up the point that there is a difference between being selfish and teaching our spouses, friends, etc. how they can help us become better people. So..in the next couple of weeks rather than feeling bad that someone is not caring about you try to put that person first and then have a calm conversation about how you can be showing love and care towards one another.

This approach has really worked for Mark and myself. Getting ourselves out of the way, focusing on the other (just pour your love on them), and then talking about how you can best care for each other!

I dare you to do this! It's much better than laying in bed late at night arguing over why we don't do enough for each other! I promise!

Please remember - this is just a reminder to myself and anyone else who cares to read! I'll post something more light hearted later!

Just for fun here are some fun winter pictures!

Just a little warming up moment!
