Most Valuable Minutes

Hi all....I've missed my blog! We've been having a fantastic summer filled with a lot of traveling so I've been out of my blogging routine!

While I've been away from blogging I haven't been away from all that God has been doing in my life. Over the past couple of months I have been intentional about taking time during my day to spend some quiet time with the Lord. Since I've been doing that I have become increasingly aware of this:

1. The weeks I regularly take quiet time I have scripture running through my mind, I'm more patient with others around me, and I tend to talk to God throughout my day.

2. The weeks I do not take that quiet time I have negative thoughts running through my head, I'm impatient, and I find myself only praying when I need something.

Obviously anyone would say the first way is the best way to live but how many of us truly live that way? I think most of us tend to live the second way. Today I challenge you, along with myself, to take quiet time at least a few times each week. This doesn't mean you turn it into something legalistic where you have to have quiet time from 1:00 - 1:15 every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. This means that you are intentional about growing closer in your relationship with God. This means if you have kids you are intentional about making this time happen amidst the constant needs they have of us moms!

Here are a few ways I have taken my quiet time:

-Pray while I'm doing the dishes
-I have index cards that I write scripture on - I leave the scriptures open on my kitchen counter and quote scripture aloud
-Make myself sit down at nap time and read my bible, pray, or just simply be quiet
-Forget about my dirty floors and laundry piles and go for a walk
-Read my bible before bed or make myself take time during the day
-Listen to praise and worship music while I'm getting ready in the morning
-Listen to podcasts or praise and worship music while I'm working out

These are just a couple of ways I have found to really focus on my relationship with the Lord! Setting aside this time will become some of your Most Valuable Minutes of the day. I promise!
